For all the Chennaiites, the word T.Nagar is an emotion, for any Chennai ‘vaasi’ would mention T.Nagar as one of their favourite places in the world. As a student of Shasun Jain college, T.Nagar has always been close to my heart. Now, let me make you experience T.Nagar through my words.

Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College:

My college is special for being located amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. From roaming around the ‘Hangout area’ to passing away time in the library or canteen to avoid any ‘after class’ practice, college life is nothing but fun at its fullest. With the arrival of the Lassi house, it is no surprise that we girls throng the shop in large numbers.

T.Nagar Bus Stand and Mambalam railway station:

I am lucky enough to have travelled by both bus and train to commute from college to home. During the ‘bus travel’ days, I used to end up gossiping with the girls from other departments until my bus arrives. For me, these jabbers are almost equivalent to 3 a.m. conversations.

‘Train travel’ days are my favourite. From being in a dilemma about which way to reach the station(market route and West Mambalam route), to reaching my platform by crossing through the Beach train, the railway station holds my best memories. It is also a great place to start a conversation with fellow Shasuneons as well.

Restaurants- the no.1 thing on anybody’s priority list:

T.Nagar is known for many high-quality restaurants. But my favourites are BR Mathsya and Sangeetha. BR Mathsya has one of the iconic buffet services in the city. I used to dine-in in BR Mathsya with my parents when they get to visit my college. This memory makes my mouth-water even now!

Pondy Bazaar- The Shopper’s Paradise:

To me, Pondy Bazaar is a shopping mall without floors. From clothes, mobiles, accessories, restaurants and road side vendors, Pondy Bazaar is a one-stop destination for all our needs. I always start my shopping spree at around 10 in the morning and end up till 5 in the evening. These shopping memories can never be erased from my mind.

Ranganathan street:

To be on one of the most crowded streets in the world is an honour. Many of my family functions owe their wardrobe courtesy to Ranganathan street’s Saravana stores. During the 9 to 5 powercut days, I deliberately used to visit Ranganathan street to get a dose of some AC as well as do some shopping at the same time.

With some renovations that have come up and some of them yet to come, T.Nagar will definitely have a worldwide reach one day!!!
